“What’s In A Name?”

Mary Clare (she/they) is an artist based in Northern Virginia. She is currently an undergraduate at George Mason University pursuing a B.A. in Theater (with a concentration in Technical Theatre and Design) and minors in Medieval Studies and LGTBQ+ Studies.

She specializes in lighting design and illustration (specially digital art). Her love of storytelling, love of history, and crafting an experience feed into one another into both her illustrations and lighting design.

Mary Clare is greatly passionate about the role art has in advocacy and strives to interweave her passion for art and activism together through her projects.

In her free time, Mary Clare can be often be found spending time with her dog Leonard; drawing while listening to sea shanties, punk, or Gregorian chant; or deep into learning whatever she can about the Middle Ages—whether that be about stained glass, medieval life or culture, or collecting images of witty manuscript marginalia.
